The rise of Generative AI challenges the role of traditional machine learning (ML) by introducing powerful, prompt-driven models for automation and content generation. However, despite its flexibility, GenAI lacks the explainability, security, and cost efficiency that many real-world applications require. This presentation compares both paradigms, showing that traditional ML remains essential for structured, high-stakes, and interpretable tasks. It argues that the future of AI is not a replacement but a hybrid approach — combining the reasoning power of ML with the adaptability of GenAI to create secure, explainable, and economically sustainable intelligent systems.
