We all love and use the container orchestration platform par excellence , but how many do really know what's under the hood? I always took apart my toys (and computers) and wondered how all this got together, so I'll do it together with you and break down Kubernetes services into their components and see how things really work; we'll follow API requests, scheduling flows, container startups and garbage collection in a journey of discovery into the belly of Kubernetes. We will dispel the aura of magic around containers and how they are managed, controlled and nurtured in Kubernetes, so you'll get a better understanding and perhaps you might not need to call in the operation teams next time a pod goes belly-up. Cherry on top, I will compare the design choices of Kubernetes against other container and VM orchestration platforms, to highlight just how good it is and why good governance can steer a project to success.
